The main problem is oil burning due to wear of oil scraper rings and valve stem seals. If replacement does not help, check the condition of valve seats and guides.
This aluminum engine is afraid of overheating and regularly blows the head gasket. The situation usually worsens by 200,000 km due to slight cylinder liner sinking.
Owners often encounter floating idle speeds. Usually caused by throttle body contamination, less often by EGR valve issues.
