A trademark problem of Orion family engines is throttle plate wear, which results in high or, more often, fluctuating idle speed. Several companies sell refurbished throttle plates for these engines.
Thin oil scraper rings typically stick by 100,000 km, leading to oil consumption. Sometimes decarbonization helps, sometimes simple ring replacement, but by 200,000 km piston wear is common and overhaul is needed.
The timing belt is scheduled for replacement every 90,000 km, but it can break earlier, often resulting not only in bent valves but also cracked pistons. A replacement engine is often much cheaper than repair.
