Main fuel system issues are related to injectors, which wear quickly due to abrasive wear from diesel impurities. Only refuel at trusted stations, regularly change the fuel filter, or prepare to spend heavily on replacement. Even used injectors are very expensive.
Two special SCV valves control fuel supply to the injection pump and tend to leak over time. First, idle speed fluctuates, then the engine stalls or refuses to start. Monitor the injection pump condition.
The most known weak point is the oil pressure sensor. At some point, the ECU suddenly signals low oil level, though it is not true. Only replacement solves the problem radically.
The EGR valve often clogs and sticks in one position at high mileage. Initially, power drops, then the engine enters limp mode.
